Every year, whether it’s football, baseball or football 2, you have award winners. You have everything from MVP and Rookie of the Year to Comeback player of the Year and Executive of the Year. Well, we (me) here at Toph Speaks are no different. A rousing conversation in the comments section of Skillet of the Week… Rihanna got me thinking, “We (Me) need to branch out the Awards given at the end of the year.” Typically, the only award given at the end of the year is the Skillet of the Year. Last years winner, was Rachel Bilson, who won hands down. This year, we’re going to spice it up a bit, and add some new awards. Now, every year you have a Mid-Season breakdown of who is looking like locks to win the awards. I figured, despite this being past mid-year, that I should divulge what the awards will be and who are the current favorites. If you have any feelings one way or the other, or feels as if I have missed someone, please feel free to express your opinions. Some of the award names aren’t as clever as I want them to be, so don’t judge me.

I’m Hot Again Award (Comeback of the Year) - Josie Maran - It seemed like there was a time when she was the It girl. She was in every magazine, swimsuit edition and every Van Helsing movie available (which was actually just one). She went off and had a baby, and I never thought I see her again. Thankfully, she popped up on Dancing with the Stars (first one voted off), and has her own cosmetics line arriving at Barney’s.

Rookie Skillet of the Year - Minka Kelly - Minka arrived on Friday Night Lights in a big way, and hopefuly she’s here to stay. I “reported” a while back that she’s going to be in the movie, “The Kingdom” with Jamie Foxx, and that movie is now out, or will be next week. Apparently, she’s dating effing John Mayer, because for some odd reason chicks dig that ass clown.

Hot Athlete of the Year - Allison Stokke - Man, this summer every male in the world fell in love with Pole Vaulting, and it’s all thanks to Stokke. She grabbed headlines across the country as unwanted attention feel upon her by dirty bloggers. You’re welcome. She’ll be making her collegiate debut up the road from me at Berkeley, and the Bay Area couldn’t be more ecstatic.

18 Year Old of the Year (or Golden Glove) - Hayden Panettiere (thanks, Egotastic) - What more could you want? She’s a massive TV star, which means you can see her once a week, she plays a high school cheerleader, and she usually dresses in bikini’s or short shorts. Plus, she just turned 18. A win for everyone.

Asian of the Year - Hyori - I just thought Ray needed a category he could get behind.

Business Time Award - Ashley Tisdale - Well, she did pretty well for herself this year. Let’s see - Massive Disney Channel Movie? Check. New CD that’s going to top charts? Check. Massive Disney Channel TV Show? Check. Lots of Bikini photos? Check and Check.

Victoria Secret Model of the Year - Miranda Kerr - Wait, a Victoria Secret model who isn’t from Brazil? You’ve got it. This Aussie is making waves all over the pages of the VS catalog, and I like it. So does every other male in the world.

Skillet of the Year - This one has a lot of people in the running, and it would be dumb for me to just name one. Last years winner, Rachel Bilson is out of the running, because it’s not fair for everyone else to repeat. Let’s run down the list of candidates: Sophia Bush, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rihanna, Jessica Alba (who won’t win, because it’s too obvious), Megan Fox, Jarah Mariano and Kate Beckinsale. Obviously, there are and will be more. We may have to put this up to a vote soon, no? Wait… who cares what you think.

Blog of the Year - Tophspeaks.com - Makes sense to me.

I’m sure there will be more awards given out at the first ever Toph Speaks Awards. I’ll be sending out invitations, soon. The ceremony will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in LA, and will feature me and all of the ladies above… and probably La Diabla (who is up for Mail Order Bride of the Year).
